What did the Forum achieve?
Its objective was to continue the process of international networking for the promotion of human dignity and peaceful co-existence as a universal right for all. The Forum brought together representatives of governments and civil society with the purpose of promoting discussion and dialogue on the multifaceted implications of the phenomenon of migration, and to promote the peaceful coexistence of peoples and democracy. |

Su objetivo era continuar con el proceso de creación de redes internacionales para la promoción de la dignidad humana y la coexistencia pacífica de derechos universales para todos. El Foro reunió a representantes de los gobiernos y la sociedad civil con la meta de promover el debate y el diálogo sobre las implicaciones multifacéticas del fenómeno de la migración, y para promover la coexistencia pacífica de los pueblos y la democracia. |
Who is SIMN?
The Scalabrini International Migration Network (SIMN) is an umbrella organization established in 2005 by the Congregation of the Missionaries of Saint Charles, Scalabrinians, with more than 250 entities involved in various activities and services helping people on the move around the world. The International Forum on Migration and Peace was organized by the Scalabrini International Migration Network (SIMN) in coordination with the SIMN members in the countries where the Forum is held, and with the support of other entities. Coordinating members this year were the Permanent Mission of Mexico to the United Nations, the New York City Mayor's Office of Immigrant Affairs, and the New York School of Law. |
Quién es SIMN?
La Red de Migración Internaciónal de los Scalabrinianos es una organización creada en 2005 por la Congregación de los Misioneros de San Carlos, Scalabrinianos, con más de 250 entidades que participan en las diversas actividades y servicios que ayudan a personas en movimiento en todo el mundo. El Foro, organizado por SIMN, en coordinación con los miembros del SIMN en los países donde se lleva el Foro, y con el apoyo de otras entidades. Los miembros de la coordinación de este año fueron la Misión Permanente de México a las Naciones Unidas, la Oficina de Nueva York de la Alcaldía para Asuntos de Inmigración, y la Escuela de Derecho de Nueva York. |
